Who We Are

Organic clothing that looks good. Feels good. And that you can feel good about. That’s what Skinstinct believes in. And that’s exactly what Skinstinct is.

Skinstinct is a Chicago-based boutique that specializes in environmentally friendly clothing, towels and spa products. Founded in 2007, we now have three Chicagoland locations—in Lakeview, in Andersonville and downtown, at Water Tower Place on the Magnificent Mile. We’re a local business with a global mission: Our goal is to design, manufacture and sell designer textiles that you can trust as well as touch.

Indeed, more than sustainable clothing, we create stylish clothing. Because fashion-forward and environmentally conscious don’t have to be mutually exclusive. We firmly believe that you can be both green and gorgeous.

What’s more, we believe you can be comfortable doing it. So while some earth friendly clothing makes your skin crawl, our organic fabrics make your skin sing.

Equal parts style and substance, vision and value, we want you to look good, feel good and do good — all at fair prices that you can afford.

What We Sell

At Skinstinct, “body care” is more than a buzzword. It’s a belief. It’s our term for anything and everything that touches the skin, including clothing, linens and skincare products. If it touches your body, we think it should be sumptuous — like a spa treatment, but without the mud.

When we couldn’t find products that made our skin smile, we decided to make our own.

Enter Skinstinct-brand T-shirts, jeans, bathrobes, bath towels and skincare products:

• Skinstinct-brand products are made of natural fibers, such as organic cotton, hemp and other eco-friendly fabrics, including our signature offering — bamboo.

• Skinstinct’s environmentally friendly clothing is made primarily from an exclusive blend of 70 percent bamboo and 30 percent organic cotton.

• Skinstinct-brand spa products include a line of 100 percent organic and vegan-certified skincare products for men and women, available in four different recipes for four different skin types.

Skinstinct-brand products are soft. They’re stylish. And they’re sustainable. Mixed and matched with other designer labels, they offer a chic, easy and affordable way to green your favorite outfit — and to support small and private label designers while you're doing it. That's because Skinstinct works closely with independent entrepreneurs and up-and-coming fashionistas in order to nurture their role in building an earth friendly fashion industry. In fact, to that end Skinstinct is actively working toward being entirely private label, and toward being 100 percent organic by the end of 2009.

Why We Care

Many clothiers market their products as “second skins.” At Skinstinct, however, we like to think one skin is enough. Our job isn’t to conceal it. It’s to comfort it.

Because Skinstinct is all about being comfortable in your own skin, we’ve built our business around the most comfortable fabric we could find: bamboo.

Skinstinct-brand clothing is made primarily from a blend of 70 percent bamboo and 30 percent organic cotton. Our T-shirts are therefore more breathable, our bathrobes softer and our towels more absorbent than clothing made with other organic fabrics.

That’s because fast-growing bamboo — which is naturally sustainable — feels like silk but works like cotton. Never mind the woody grass that comes to mind when you think of bamboo. In reality, the type of bamboo fibers that are used to make fabric are naturally hypoallergenic, naturally anti-bacterial, naturally absorbent and naturally fast drying. They’re machine-washable, resistant to both odor and perspiration, cooling in the summer, warm in the winter, and environmentally friendly all year long.

In other words, bamboo is a fashion superfabric — and Skinstinct is on the forefront.

Our Stores

Skinstinct stores are a lot like Skinstinct clothes: super stylish and incredibly comfortable.

We currently have three Chicago locations, where you’ll find stores that look and feel more like spas than shops. A total sensory experience, you’ll see a sleek and sophisticated design, hear the relaxing sounds of soft spa music, smell the soothing scents of our Skinstinct-brand skincare products, touch the skin-soft texture of our organic fabrics, and taste the delicious flavors of our complimentary beverages and chocolates.

Not in Chicago? We serve customers worldwide at Skinstinct.com. You’ll miss out on the free chocolate, but we can promise you the same unflinching customer service and the same fashionable products that customers in our Chicago stores enjoy.
